The June Open Studio Trail
Eight artists, at six studio locations, will be open on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25 of June. Come and meet Michele Deveze, Annie McIntosh, June McCotter, Christine Elcoate, Chris Blake, Belinda Stanton and our June Feature Artist Megan Bice. Megan has a background in commercial art and these early experiences have strengthened the composition elements in her work. She also likes to experiment with textual effects and glazing to create painterly finishes, these translate everyday images into personal expressions of the world we live in.
The June Trail runs from Nambour and Flaxton on to Maleny, then Peachester and Landsborough. Any time is always the perfect time to visit the Sunshine Coast Hinterland for a beautiful drive, and June brings the added delight of meeting our local artists in their warm studio/galleries.
Artists will be demonstrating their techniques and various mediums on the weekend. They are experienced and professional producers of unique artworks in printmaking, pastels, watercolours, acrylics, oils, ceramics, fabric art, to name a few. Artworks are for sale and please feel free to ask our artists about that special commissioned artwork you would like created.
Artists Megan Bice and Annie McIntosh will be exhibiting at the Megan Bice Art Sudio on Sunday.
Megan Bice Art Studio is situated along the picturesque Mountain View Road, Maleny. It is a home based art studio. Megan has lived and worked in Maleny for the last 20 years and is a part of the local art community. She uses a broad range of media in her work and is always looking for new directions, textures and effects for her work. Living in such a beautiful part of the world is a constant source of inspiration. Parking is available out the front or in the driveway.

Chris Blake – Artist
The Blake studio was designed and built by Chris as a studio/gallery/ home in 2000 but being an owner builder it was a few years before it was opened. Built on an acre property it has a circular driveway [come in on the second entry] and it has ample parking for 6 cars or a couple of mini buses [being a dead end street there is safe parking on the road also]. The house set on stumps is of a loft home design with the main Gallery occupying the ground floor. The studio upstairs overlooks the pond-age area from the rear balcony and is a mecca for wildlife [birds and water dragons]. The garden has been planted over the years with callistemon and other flowering scrubs and trees to create a garden for wildlife. There is as yet no wheelchair access.

Michele Deveze – Artist
I presently have almost as much space as I want (you can never have enough), and I can just about always find all my tools and the special sheets of paper and pieces od dead plants and animals that I need for the next work. The Dirty Studio looks over the Crohamhurst Creek to the Glass House Mountains, and shares a common space with all my workshop tools an done cat of no small importance. Pride of place is the etching/litho press and beautiful silky oak and pine ex-government drafting furniture. The Clean Studio – the drawing room – is upstairs in a closed-in verandah overlooking the Blackall Range, and is shared with too many cats.
