Arts Connect Inc. is a membership driven organisation that is based in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Our members are drawn from many areas and have a diverse range of skills and experience across many art forms.
In 2007 this present organisation evolved from the ashes of ‘Montville Community Arts’. A strong bond with the Montville/ Flaxton/ Mapleton community still exists but is balanced by many members from Maleny, Witta, Connondale, Beerwah and beyond. There are no geographical boundaries to membership.
The first initiative, was ‘Artists on the Green’, a monthly art markets on the Montville Village Green commencing in 2008 and supported by Sunshine Coast Council’s Grant Scheme through a professional website development. This event has now lapsed due to heavy rain seasons and other ‘market’ competition.
Our two major events are ‘Sculpture on the Edge’ and ‘Open Studios’.
Sculpture on the Edge (SOTE) was initially a collaboration with Maleny Garden Clubs’ Open Gardens Festival in 2010. That success led to a stand-alone event in 2011, sponsored by the Spicers Group. Initially works were installed at Spicers Clovelly, Montville, but since 2012 work has been displayed in the grounds of Spicers Tamarind Retreat, Maleny. For more information please visit our Sculpture on the Edge page
Our ‘Open Studio’ program was originally designed to complement the SC Hinterland ‘Festival of Walks 2010’. Further development has seen this program well supported by the community since 2011 when it was held for several weeks throughout September.
A new model was developed in 2015 where a number of studios will be open the last weekend each month. Visit Open Studios for more information
Members Exhibitions are held at Galleries and Local Events where ever possible. In 2016 we are holding two Members Exhibitions in Caboolture and the Cooroy Butter Factory.
Social Networking events are held quarterly and open to Members and Friends. At these events we share news, music, song, food and maybe even art … with new and old friends. see here for more details
We have received major funding support from Sunshine Coast Council and RADF (incl Arts Qld). We enjoy valuable partnerships with Sunshine Coast Council, the Spicers Group, Hinterland Times, and Hinterland Business Centre . We appreciate great support and sponsorship from many local businesses and organisations.
But most of all we thank the artists who are ACI members, and all members of our communities who support us.
