The January Open Studio Trail.
Two artists are welcoming visitors to their studio-galleries for the January Open Studios on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th, 10am to 4pm both days.
Come and meet Judi Parkinson (off Mountain View Road) in Maleny and Chris Blake (off Steve Irwin Drive) in Landsborough. Both Judi and Chris are award winning, professional artists who work in a variety of media, including pastels, watercolours, acrylics, oils, and photography.
This is a short trail for January and ideal for visitors to Maleny and Landsborough who would like to take the opportunity to pop in and meet two of our artists as as you travel to our beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Individual studio maps are included in each artists’ information and the map below provides the linking road between the two studios – Landsborough-Maleny Road.
Judi is our Feature Artist for January. She works in a variety of media and her works are an eclectic collection of paintings, movies, photography and picture books. Reminiscence and personal experiences are key influences in her work.
We look forward to meeting you!
Judi Parkinson – Artist and Photographer
When you get to the top of my drive just wander along the lawn, then pass the rose gardens to reach my studio in the backyard. Recent renovations have created a small gallery. The larger studio area includes a mezzanine floor for my sketching and sewing, and downstairs provides work spaces for my photography and painting.
There is turning space at the top of the driveway and reverse parking down along the driveway is available. Bus turning is further down the street at a T-intersection.

Chris Blake – Artist
The Blake studio was designed and built by Chris as a studio/gallery/ home in 2000 but being an owner builder it was a few years before it was opened. Built on an acre property it has a circular driveway [come in on the second entry] and it has ample parking for 6 cars or a couple of mini buses [being a dead end street there is safe parking on the road also]. The house set on stumps is of a loft home design with the main Gallery occupying the ground floor. The studio upstairs overlooks the pond-age area from the rear balcony and is a mecca for wildlife [birds and water dragons]. The garden has been planted over the years with callistemon and other flowering scrubs and trees to create a garden for wildlife. There is as yet no wheelchair access.
