The July Open Studio Trail
We have a lovely trail this month that takes in the surrounds of Maleny with some wonderful cafes and restaurants to visit along your drive. Make a day of it as you drive around the beautiful Glasshouse Mountains to visit Annie McIntosh, and Chris Blake, at their studios in Peachester and Landsborough. Meander up the Blackall Range and enjoy the amazing views on your way to visit Kaye Leach in North Maleny and then across the range to meet Jennifer Eurall at Mapleton.
These four artists produce professional artworks in a variety of mediums including acrylics, oils, printmaking, photography, ceramics, and sculpture.

Annie McIntosh – Artist
Annie McIntosh lives on a farm outside Peachester fulfilling the dream of painting her surrounding landscape and environs. Over the years she has accumulated a lot of ideas, and now cannot paint fast enough or often enough. Her large garden is a constant source both of solitude and vitality—the rambling plants, the light and shade, the enormous variety of life.
Annie’s studio is situated outside Peachester, south of Maleny. From the Kilcoy-Beerwah Rd, turn into the delightfully scenic River Rd. Drive approximately 5km , cross a double concrete bridge, and follow the signs to an original Queenslander farmhouse, situated right at the roadside amongst pasture and forest. Access is easy, lots of parking.

Chris Blake – Artist
The Blake studio was designed and built by Chris as a studio/gallery/ home in 2000 but being an owner builder it was a few years before it was opened. Built on an acre property it has a circular driveway [come in on the second entry] and it has ample parking for 6 cars or a couple of mini buses [being a dead end street there is safe parking on the road also]. The house set on stumps is of a loft home design with the main Gallery occupying the ground floor. The studio upstairs overlooks the pond-age area from the rear balcony and is a mecca for wildlife [birds and water dragons]. The garden has been planted over the years with callistemon and other flowering scrubs and trees to create a garden for wildlife. There is as yet no wheelchair access.

Kaye Leach – Ceramic Artist and Painter
As you enter the circular drive which has plenty of off street parking as well as wheelchair access, you will notice my sculptures scattered throughout the gardens. Entry to my studio is through the red door where you will find a display of all my artwork.

Jennifer Eurell – Artist
My home is on the escarpment at Mapleton, looking out to the sea. It is within easy walking distance from the village of Mapleton with it’s pub and coffee shops; and Mapleton Falls and Mapleton National Park are only a 5 minutes’ drive away. My studio is under the house and can be accessed via the glass front doors of the studio or through the garage. There is on-street parking (or inside the property if there is room), but be wary of the Post Office Road/Warruga Street intersection in front of the house as the locals are fond of turning there.
