The May Open Studio Trail
Autumn colours are splashing across the hinterland as we drift into Winter so it is the perfect opportunity for driving across The Range and popping in to visit our artists in their warm studio/galleries.
You won’t miss us!!
As from this month we have new eye-catching signs that will easily direct you to your next studio stop. Arts Connect Inc., is a not-for-profit organization and we are very grateful to the Maleny Credit Union for a recent grant of $2,000 towards our new signage.
This Trail is open on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May from 10am to 4pm both days. This month we have thirteen artists at twelve studio locations demonstrating their talents, and their Fine Arts and merchandise are available for sale. It is always special to hear the story behind their creativity which provides extra meaning to your visiting experience or purchase.
Our talented May artists are Judy Berlak, Judi Parkinson, Jennifer Eurell, Chris Blake, Christine Elcoats, The McCotter-Musk Studio, Kaye Leach, Belinda Stanton, Annie McIntosh, Anne -Gentry-Smith, Deann Cumner and our Feature Artist is Bronwyn Brands. Bronwyn has studied oil painting, life drawing, pastel painting and portraiture at the Brisbane Institute of Art and is inspired by the effects of light and shade in her still life studies and landscapes.

Annie McIntosh – Artist
Annie McIntosh lives on a farm outside Peachester fulfilling the dream of painting her surrounding landscape and environs. Over the years she has accumulated a lot of ideas, and now cannot paint fast enough or often enough. Her large garden is a constant source both of solitude and vitality—the rambling plants, the light and shade, the enormous variety of life.
Annie’s studio is situated outside Peachester, south of Maleny. From the Kilcoy-Beerwah Rd, turn into the delightfully scenic River Rd. Drive approximately 5km , cross a double concrete bridge, and follow the signs to an original Queenslander farmhouse, situated right at the roadside amongst pasture and forest. Access is easy, lots of parking.

Chris Blake – Artist
The Blake studio was designed and built by Chris as a studio/gallery/ home in 2000 but being an owner builder it was a few years before it was opened. Built on an acre property it has a circular driveway [come in on the second entry] and it has ample parking for 6 cars or a couple of mini buses [being a dead end street there is safe parking on the road also]. The house set on stumps is of a loft home design with the main Gallery occupying the ground floor. The studio upstairs overlooks the pond-age area from the rear balcony and is a mecca for wildlife [birds and water dragons]. The garden has been planted over the years with callistemon and other flowering scrubs and trees to create a garden for wildlife. There is as yet no wheelchair access.

Judi Parkinson – Artist and Photographer
When you get to the top of my drive just wander along the lawn, then pass the rose gardens to reach my studio in the backyard. It’s a large shed which includes a mezzanine floor for my sketching and writing; downstairs provides work spaces for my photography and painting.
There is limited parking and turning at the top of the driveway so we prefer to keep the area free for disabled access please. Bus turning is further down the street at a T-intersection.

To find my studio walk along the sweep of the garden driveway to the steps and then turn left and stroll to the back of the house. You will see my rainforest studio – Dallambara – on a grassy knoll set amidst the tall trees. When you enter our driveway you can park on the front lawn to the right or you can park on the street. Street is suitable for bus parking.

Jennifer Eurell – Artist
My home is on the escarpment at Mapleton, looking out to the sea. It is within easy walking distance from the village of Mapleton with it’s pub and coffee shops; and Mapleton Falls and Mapleton National Park are only a 5 minutes’ drive away. My studio is under the house and can be accessed via the glass front doors of the studio or through the garage. There is on-street parking (or inside the property if there is room), but be wary of the Post Office Road/Warruga Street intersection in front of the house as the locals are fond of turning there.
