Studio potter, ceramic sculptor and acrylic painter
Belinda is an international award winning graphic designer/illustrator. In 1993 she started a degree in visual arts, after finishing high school in 1991. In 1999 family commitments lead her down a commercial path, into the world of graphic design and illustration. Her design career spanned over 14 years in marketing, packaging design and publishing. In 2016 she moved up to Maleny, Queensland to rediscover herself as a studio potter, ceramic sculptor and fine art painter, which is where she currently conducts her art practice.
She has exhibited 3 solo exhibitions, ‘Imaginary friends’ - Mitchell on Maranoa Gallery, ‘Internal Happiness’ - Fortitude Valley, White Canvas Gallery and ‘Bliss’ - Maleny, Forest Art Collective Gallery. Her work has also been in many collaborative exhibitions, most recently ‘Paper Perspectives’ - Maleny, Forest Art Collective gallery, ‘Cuppa: a cup survey’ - the Clayfield Makers Gallery and in the Stanthorpe Art festival - Stanthorpe Gallery.
Commercially her ceramic work has been (or currently sells) in national gallery shops including the ‘Gallery of Modern Art, GOMA' QLD, New England Regional Art Museum, NERAM' NSW, Mukau Gallery in Margaret River WA and Artnuvo in Buderim QLD .
Her works are actively collected nationally and internationally. She has been featured in magazines such as Etzcetera, Frankie, Queensland homes magazines and in online blogs including Mumamia.com and Veranellies blog.
Currently Belinda’s work centers around the idea of living with a sense of internal well being, inner peace and harmony. Most of her pieces feature characters with eyes closed behind beaming smiles. She uses this mechanism to keep the viewer out of the mind of the character on display. One can only make an assumption about the pieces seemingly eternal sense of contentment which may potentially transfer back to the viewer.
