I love texture, colour and the endless possibilities of art…..
I have been painting, drawing, creating for as long as I can remember and love to pass along the knowledge that I have gained. The process of creating is being able to connect with something greater than yourself, feeling comfortable in taking risks and seeing where your muse takes you. Art classes are a wonderful way of extending your creative pathways. After leaving school I studied commercial art, this has proved invaluable for my own teaching purposes. All of us have an inner artist and it’s learning how to connect to that inner artist that allows you to feel free to take risks and believe in yourself.
Essentially to me art is a way of communicating the everyday, capturing a moment in time or the ephemeral nature of life.
My background in commercial art has given my work a strong design and compositional element. I like to experiment with textual effects and glazing to create painterly finished that translate everyday images into a personal expression of the world we live in.
For me painting is a fascinating process, living on the edge, never quite knowing how it might end, and a sense of elation and satisfaction when the work is complete.
As a practising artist and teacher, I am actively involved in the local artistic community. This participation with other creative people both in my work and personal artistic pursuits enhances my enjoyment of guiding and encouraging others in their creative explorations.
