My forty years of farming on the Darling Downs gave me a love of nature and the land, and I have tried to incorporate that into my art work. I have always enjoyed woodcarving but farming but farming did not allow as much time for this as I would like.
Since retiring to the Sunshine Coast in 2000, I have undertaken a TAFE course in ceramics at Cooroy and graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Arts (ceramics) and started making ceramic sculptures. I have always had a desire to try bronze and when the opportunity arrived with a course at the Summer School at USQ in Toowoomba I grabbed the chance and found it a rewarding experience. Recently I have been challenging my farm welding skills by making stainless steel sculptures, and I am trying stone as well. My works are held in private collections in Australia and Europe and I was lucky enough to have my first public work unveiled recently.
