Silver & Gold smith and sculptor
Born in Warwick Queensland, Rodney was naturally artistic as a child but didn't discover his passion for art until his twenties, when he found silver - smithing. Rodney's first sculpture was created from sterling silver. "The Silver Serpent" was hand woven around a cauldron.
For the past 20 years Rodney has taught the art of silver and gold smithing as well as creating custom orders and sculptures.
Highlights of Rodney's career are the creation of a boardroom table centrepiece for Federation Health in Victoria. He has received multiple awards for his art sculptures created from semi precious metals, precious metals, gemstones and timber for Phobia, The Web, Just Another Day at The Office, The Way Things Are , Copperhead( won highly commended in 2016 SOTE ) and AQUATICA which was acquired by Redland Council in 2016. In 2017 Rod created Shark in the Park which was also acquired by Redland Council. Rod's latest piece Who Gives A Squid is currently on display at Sculpture On The Edge at Spicer's Tamarind Maleny.
Rod also owns and operates RABKA GOLD & SILVERSMITHS where he creates custom jewellery and fine art, he also teaches the craft of silver and gold smithing opening the doors to an ancient craft hidden away for centuries.
