DRAWING, PASTELS, SCULPTURE
Originally from Melbourne, I moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2004 and after establishing my career here as a primary teacher, decided to embrace the creative energies and lifestyle on the coast fully to focus on my lifelong love of drawing.
Life drawing has become a pivotal part of my creativity and as I see progress in what I do I am inspired to continue.
Along the way I’ve discovered the tactile pleasure of working with clay and have now embarked on a parallel journey of exploration into the anatomy of the female form in three dimensions. To me, working in pastel and clay have many similarities in terms of finding form.
As an emerging artist I have a long way to go on this journey however I am enjoying every moment.
I work in pencil, pastel, charcoal and clay.
More About Me
I am intrigued by the female form as many before have been.
Light and colour all at once both envelop and expose form… the beauty of the female form.
Pinks, mauves, blues, reds… the colours of life….life’s blood.
Flesh… transparent and translucent… shimmering, absorbing and reflecting light.
And as the colour fades, so does beauty.
But while these warm hues touch the light, beauty in all its subtleties, lives on.
