Essentially to me art is a way of communicating the everyday, capturing a moment in time or the ephemeral nature of life.
My background in commercial art has given my work a strong design and compositional element. I like to experiment with textual effects and glazing to create painterly finished that translate everyday images into a personal expression of the world we live in.
For me painting is a fascinating process, living on the edge, never quite knowing how it might end, and a sense of elation and satisfaction when the work is complete.
As a practising artist and teacher, I am actively involved in the local artistic community. This participation with other creative people both in my work and personal artistic pursuits enhances my enjoyment of guiding and encouraging others in their creative explorations.
