Lara has been exploring painting professionally for the past 15 years. Initially learning in watercolour, she has also diversified into oils and has a particular love for portraiture and visual story telling, with a touch of the whimsical. She is also a published illustrator. Presently, she is working on a series of portraits of men who have been initiated through Mens Rites of Passage, with the Centre for Men and Families in Brisbane. These will be on display in 2021.

More About Me
Lara is a dynamic artist who uses the medium of painting to capture life moments, and tell stories. The spirit in a person and/or place is what draws her to portraiture and figure work, and the connection she finds is evident in her works. Career highlights include winning the Kernewek Lowender Art Prize (SA) in 2012, travelling to Bali to do art workshops in the Kerobokan Prison, painting a mural for an aboriginal community in Dalby and illustrating a children’s story (Chandani and the Ghost of the Forest) for authors Rosanne Hawke and Lenore Penner. She has also hosted painting workshops for people of all ages.
