He sculpts wildlife in bronze and ceramic and enjoys playing with abstract ideas in the composition of realistic forms. He also likes to practice with wheel in the shinto tradition and incorporate wildlife motives into functional forms, including fish plates and cups with carved bass relief.

More About You
Ally learnt ceramic construction in an aprentice style learning, with the Eden town potter, Terry Love. Ally’s attention to detail was honed penning taxonomic artwork as a zoological scientist. Work and study as a remedial masseur also helped his understanding of anatomy.
Ally has set up a small foundry in Eden NSW and casts his own bronzes as well as facilitates bronze sculpture.
He is also president of a local community ceramics group, Imlay Crafts, where he teaches, wheel, sculpture, glazes and bronze casting.
