More About You
As a visual artist, I explore various elements of the local landscape around the Sunshine Coast. Of particular interest are the twisting vines in the undergrowth of the local bush land. This interest stems from a childhood in North Queensland where a 500 year old strangler fig on the Atherton Tablelands was a well known tourist attraction. These vines wrap themselves around the trunk and roots of the host tree until it is starved of nutrients and oxygen. The shape of the vines as they twist and turn appears to have similarities to handwriting and this is what I find fascinating.
