ACI membership runs for the financial year, and will lapse at the 30th June.

It’s time for renewal.

In this article, Caroline Hughes-King, our Vice President and Members Co-ordinator, lists the many benefits of ACI membership.

She writes, “We have all faced a tumultuous and for many a stressful, uncertain and fearful time with life plans completely upended.

But here at Arts Connect Inc. your Management Team is determined to continue to provide opportunities for our members and to support and encourage art in general in our region.

It is your membership and the support from our sponsors that drives the Art Connect Inc. machinery.

Although the last three to four months has knocked our activities on the head many dedicated volunteers have continued to work on projects to be ready for when we can once again open the doors to our programme of events.

Here is an update on the many ACI activities and events that benefit our members and friends.

New Website

Data is being loaded and the site is in the last stages of editing and testing.  We have re-established our ‘Paypal’ payment facility for a convenient link for payments in the future.  However the membership portal is a more complex piece of kit and its construction will be done by a specialist contractor and so may not be rolled out at the same time as the main website.

Sculpture on the Edge

ACI is in negotiations with a Project Co-ordinator for this event in 2020. This year’s event is subject to the outcome of these discussions and of course the current government restrictions.

A new prize is under consideration to be added to the mix, and our good friends at Spicers Tamarind are once again keen to be involved and to continue supporting us. We will keep you informed.

ACI Subsidised Workshops

We will be in contact when these begin again.

One workshop provider with excellent studio facilities has received approval to undertake
tuition (adhering to current guidelines) and we are negotiating for the possibility of running one or more ACI sponsored workshops. We hope to have an update on this in the July Newsletter, on our old website (under Workshops/News) and hopefully our new website too.

Open Studios

Although Covid19 laid waste to our efforts for this year, we have continued to work on the new model for Open Studios and will be well placed to proceed in 2021. We are working to create a sustainable iconic annual event for our region.

Together with the Event Co-ordinator, dates are being investigated, and you will be advised as soon as they are confirmed.

Before the lockdown, two exhibitions had been booked for members, one at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve for July 2020, and another at the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre for April 2021. They had to be cancelled, but will still proceed at a later date.

We have no specific information yet, as venue dates still need to be re-booked, and the Mary Cairncross show in particular, is dependent on government restrictions lifting. There is more information on the Mary Cairncross show below, so scroll down for that.

You can be sure we will be in contact as soon as more is known, so stay tuned, and continue to plan and create!

Social Activities

No social activities are planned at the present, but we hope to have our usual Christmas end of year function sometime at the end of November or early December.

Do take the opportunity to attend any exhibition opening events as these begin to happen again.

We would welcome volunteers to help form a loose sub-committee to develop a program of social functions – and new ideas are always welcome.
