MIXED MEDIA, PRESSED FLOWER ART
Joy moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2020, at the start of the pandemic, and soon found herself unemployed. This unexpected change gave her the time to explore her creative side, and flower preservation quickly became a passion. Each flower or piece of foliage became a challenge to preserve and transform into lasting art. Initially, she framed her work using pre-purchased frames, but soon sought a more sustainable solution.
Through learning the stained-glass Tiffany method, Joy developed a unique way of creating art that preserves wedding and memorial flowers for a lifetime. The pieces on display in this exhibition are fine art reproductions of pressed flower artworks — captured professionally at the moment of creation so the flowers will remain exactly as they were, without fading or change over time. Her work blends nature’s beauty with timeless craftsmanship, offering people a way to hold onto their most precious memories.

Pressed and preserved flowers, reassembled botanicals, stained glass framing (Tiffany method), and fine art photography reproduction. Each bloom is carefully deconstructed and reconstructed before being professionally photographed and transformed into archival fine art prints.

When she’s not in her studio on the Sunshine Coast, Joy enjoys exploring the hinterland, eating healthy, finding new blooms to press, and continually experimenting with ways to merge traditional craft with contemporary fine art.
