Painting
I am a practising watercolour artist based on the Sunshine Coast in Flaxton.
I began watercolour painting when I retired from working in education for many years.
Working with many types of media has informed my current practice.

More About You
I paint with watercolour because I love how it floods the page of my life with light – transparent, mysterious and mercurial. I hold the brush lightly so that it floats over the paper revealing the shape of a landscape or flower to me. My heart beats at each shadow and pounds when the dark fights the light.
Watercolour painting has been a progression from years of apprenticeship with composition in photography, classes in art, colour and design and reflection as a teacher of the history of art. I have dabbled in linocuts and eco-prints. My early mentors in watercolour included the Australians watercolourists: David Taylor and John Orlando Birt.
Working from my leafy studio in Flaxton I won the Kenilworth Landscape Prize and the Kenilworth Still Life Prize. Many of my exhibitions were with Arts Connect Inc. – at the Graydon Gallery in New Farm, the Cooroy Butter Factory and at many Sunshine Coast Open Studio events.
I have been fortunate to have had my own studio where I have worked for the past 16 years. This has enabled me to constantly share my skills and benefit from fresh learnings from visitors over time. I have been President of Arts Connect which helped me acquire an overview of Arts on the Sunshine Coast thus contributing to our history.
