I’m Lizzie, currently based in Maleny and establishing a portfolio in charcoal portraits. My work focuses on realism in charcoal portraiture, particularly in capturing detail and emotion in facial expressions and eyes. I like to focus on the face, the essence, and the eye contact of the subject with the viewer.
MEDIA
I work with charcoal for most portraits, and occasionally with oil pastels in pet portraiture.

More About You
Over time my work has evolved from graphite drawings focussing on line work and proportion to establish fundamentals for my personal understanding, to the detail of the face fully fleshed out. I’m looking to upscale my portraits in size in the near future to increasingly accommodate this focus on detail. The focus of my art is the focus of my daily life; people, how we connect, and how it feels to see one another in a more intimate and true form. For me, this is easiest in the stillness of looking into the micro-expressions, fine lines, and feel of a stationary and present face.
