This workshop promises to help you draw and paint freely from your own unique perspective.

Let your hair down and immerse yourself in the sensations of the natural bushland of Mary Cairncross Park.  Respond quickly with your own unique marks, charcoal and paint without needing to accurately record what’s there.  The focus will be on a tonal interpretation, mark-making and an expressive response.

Back at the workshop venue, we’ll discuss personal voice, abstraction and intention and intuition.  There will be demonstrations of collage technique and building new, exciting compositions.

You will make a series of abstracted landscape collages with a mini-exhibition at the end of the day two.

This workshop promises to help you draw and paint freely from your own unique perspective.

‘Rapid, gestural mark-making with colour is how I start, with no desire to faithfully represent what is there. That is Freedom! Then, back home in the studio, I relish ripping and reconstructing to create new scenarios – abstract-  but with a sense of place.’  (Kym Barrett, IN SITU, August 2019)

We have an introduction to Kym here, along with a selection of her mixed media landscape work.
