CERAMICS, Sculpture

Living in Europe in the early 2000’s became inspired by people with the ability to produce marble sculptures. I completed several courses in Cararra, Italy.

On returning to Australia I participated in modelling courses and went on to produce some bronze works, initially figurative and then abstract. This included working in a bronze foundry completing all aspects other than applying the ceramic coatings and pouring the molten bronze.

More About Me

As an artist, my journey in sculpting began amidst the timeless beauty of Italy’s marble quarries, where every block holds within it the potential for artistic expression. Living and working in Europe, surrounded by centuries of artistic heritage, I found myself deeply inspired by the masterpieces that adorned the continent’s museums and streets. This rich cultural tapestry ignited within me a passion for sculpting, a craft deeply rooted in tradition yet boundless in its possibilities for innovation.

In Italy, I honed my skills in the delicate art of carving marble, allowing its ethereal qualities to shape my artistic vision. Drawing from the classical figurative tradition, I sought to capture the essence of human form and emotion, sculpting pieces that evoke a sense of timelessness and grace.

However, my artistic journey did not end there. A move to Australia opened up new horizons, presenting me with the opportunity to explore a different medium: bronze. Here, amidst the rugged landscapes and vibrant arts scene, I found a new muse for my creativity. Working with bronze allowed me to transition from the classical to the contemporary, infusing my sculptures with a dynamic energy and sense of movement.

My artistic progression has been marked by a shift from the figurative to the abstract, as I seek to push the boundaries of traditional sculpture and explore new avenues of expression. Embracing the freedom of abstraction, I find myself drawn to the interplay of form, texture, and space, creating works that invite viewers to engage with their own interpretations and emotions.

In each piece, whether crafted from marble or bronze, figurative or abstract, I strive to evoke a sense of wonder and introspection. My art is a reflection of my journey—a journey of discovery, transformation, and endless possibility. Through sculpture, I seek to capture the essence of the human experience and leave a lasting imprint on the world around me.
