TEXTILES, ECO-DYEING, BOTANICAL PRINTING

Krysalis Eco-Dyeing is a clothing collection – silk, wool, cotton, linen – with original designs using eco-dyeing techniques. The natural dyes come from foliage – leaves, flowers, bark and wood – sourced locally on the Sunshine Coast.

Each garment has a unique pattern so no two can ever be the same – from silk scarves, dresses, tops and pillowcases to merino wool wraps, shawls and leggings.

MEDIA

I work with a variety of fabrics, mostly protein fibers such as Silk and Wool. I eco-dye these into one of a kind works of art in various forms ranging from scarves to clothing to wall hangings.

More About You

Kris Morriss, up until recently, was a Visual Art teacher at a Sunshine Coast Secondary School.

She fell in love with the Eco-Dyeing process and has been developing and refining her skills. Kris admits that you never stop learning with this process.

My best friend calls me Krysalis… when I thought about what I do, I thought that each bundle is a little chrysalis waiting to emerge. Each bundle is a transformation into something beautiful.

You never quite know what will transform from the pot. It’s about the emergence of something that is yet to be fully realised.
