CERAMICS
Having tried quite a few different formats in ceramics, making sculptures for wall hangings spoke to me as did piping slip to add to the decorative process. I enjoy watching the process of a plain object take on varied forms by the application of piping, moulded or hand made additions. A surprising discovery was enjoying the rather painstaking and lengthy time it takes to finish a sculpture.
MEDIA
Porcelain and stone ware predominate the clay used for sculptures and other work. These clays best breakdown to provide the slip necessary for piping. Frequently coloured ‘stains’ are used and left unglazed so as to not limit the striking colours which are occasionally used. Black mid fire clay is also a favourite.

More About You
Having spent my working life in the Northern Territory, upon retirement I settled in Montville, having purchased a block of land on a whim some 6 years prior. Four years were spent creating a garden which has experienced many iterations since. I had taken a six week course in ‘pottery’ whist at university to have a break from the intense study and upon hearing Maleny had a clay group made enquiries. Seven years later I think I have found my niche in a hobby that is all consuming.
