GLASS, JEWELLERY, PHOTOGRAPHY

I am a Hinterland artist living in my own paradise in Dulong surrounded by farms and fields.
Here I have a small purpose built studio in my home where many hours are spent in designing and making a range of fused glass pieces. I began with jewellery and now produce wall and garden art, plates bowls and clocks using sheet glass.

My other design focus is on cyanotype printing which is an old photographic process producing images developed by the sun. I am absorbed for hours ‘playing’ with both of these mediums.

More About Me

Glass Casting
In my desire to explore different glass making processes and techniques, I attended a workshop in Italy during 2025 with well-known glass artist Sylvia Levensen to learn about ‘glass casting’ which allows me to produce glass in three dimensions rather than just flat glasswork fused in the kiln. This was an introductory workshop using basic processes for casting.

In May 2026 I will attend another ‘glass casting’ workshop in Melbourne with New Zealand glass artist Di Tocker. This will further develop my skills with glass casting, in particular the use of colour and patterning.

Glass Fusing
In 2025, I also explored the technique of putting glass under pressure using weights whilst kiln firing several layers of 3mm glass. This was an online class, with a glass professional from Bullseye Glass in Portland Oregon. I will do more of this in 2026 as the results are always unpredictable and exciting. The resulting glass piece will be thin (3mm or less) and serendipitous in design as melting the glass flows every way under the weight of heavy shelves and bricks, in a hot kiln.

Meanwhile I continue to design and make one off pieces including tea light holders, plates and platters, clocks and jewellery for various outlets both on the Sunshine Coast and around Brisbane, and for a range of Exhibitions.

Cyanotype
Having recently completed a workshop with ‘Wet Cyanotype’ work, I am now exploring using multi layers of natural foliage and flowers to achieve the 3D look.
