Painting

Denise Daffara is an established painter, evolving her craft for 20+ years. Her art practice is an intuitive, light and colour fuelled exploration of her life’s journey.

Reoccurring motifs include Australian and New Zealand floral, plant and bird life. You’ll also find Matisse inspired feminine figures visiting her painted interiors and table settings depicted in a non realistic, contemporary style.

Her art expresses the sacred union between beauty and healing for the heart – for the artist and the viewer.

Her work is for sale locally at Stevens Street Gallery & Define Art and may be privately commissioned on application.

Media

I work in layers most of the time using acrylic paints & inks on my canvases and wood panels.

Mark making and very free movements are made at the start, often accompanied by writing, which could be affirmations, prayers, or anything that wants to be expressed at the time … and slowly as the layers progress a design shows up with a bit of coaxing and imagination. I love to add bits of collage papers, scribbles and marks with soluble crayon and details with paint pens.

I particularly love having windows to earlier layers in the finished painting.

I regularly draw a little character named ‘Little dd’ – she’s a tiny wise sage who is a deeply inspirational little being in my life. This is most often digital art using procreate on iPad …

More About Me

Using art journaling, intentional creativity and painting as a self healing modality has been extremely helpful for me in my personal quest, especially through times of grief, depression, and awakenings. It was the tragic loss of my sister in 1997 that set me on this creative path, I now know that art heals, my life reminds me of this constantly. I am deeply interested in creating a space where people may come to make art and have a safe space to express their grief and loss, and grow a practice of self compassion and radical self acceptance.

In recent years I have begun to share some creative experiences and discoveries via online classes & workshops. May they be of service and support, uplift and inspire others to creatively express and lovingly nurture themselves too.
