Yanni Van Zijl and member Pam Walpole (who are Art forARTsake) have been selected for the SWELL Sculpture Festival 2020 at Currumbin on the Gold Coast. Their piece, VORTEX, is a spiralling installation representing the Great Pacific Garbage Patch- one of 5 massive floating islands of garbage which floats and pollutes our oceans.

These poly pod formations – indicative of coral polyps and spores – create a playful interactive maze which invites children to climb under and explore. Of course it comes with the message of how tiny pieces of garbage and plastic is broken down which have created havoc with our precious marine life.

See this work between 11th and 20th September at Currumbin Beach, Gold Coast Queensland.
