DRAWING, PAINTING
Stickland originated in Narromine, NSW, a small country town where he completed an apprenticeship in Signwriting. Moving to the Sunshine Coast, Qld in 2006 to raise his family and continue his sign business. The inspiration of artistic talent in the region enveloping him, the urge to create, to paint, to express finally taking hold in 2018 where he was introduced to oils and portraiture. The opportunity to capture one’s soul onto canvas, to portray a lifetime of living is a challenge he accepts openly. Finding new techniques and inspiration to suit each sitter a target that pushes him beyond the traditional portrait. Why does he paint? Because it makes him sing inside. Trust me , he can’t sing to save himself. It’s finding those rare magical brush strokes that are just meant to be are his challenge in every painting.
