PAINTER, SCULPTURE
I have experimented with all mediums. Currently I like to paint wildlife in a realistic style, however this concept can be demanding and requires a lot of research into the anatomy of the particular animal being painted and concentration to get the right composition, structure and colours.
During the last few years I have developed an interest in three dimensional sculpture in wood. It is very satisfying to see a shape emerging from a block of wood. At the same time being able to conceptualise in 3D is very challenging.
I have had 2 solo exhibitions in Maleny showing a mixture of my paintings, sculpture and jewellery boxes. Both exceeded my expectations and I was amazed to find there were people out there who liked my work well enough to buy it.
In 2016 I won 2 first prizes at Art Shows for my paintings and 2 prizes for my sculptures. Also that year I won first prize for a landscape painting at the Toowoomba Royal Agricultural Show.
In 2017 I received a “highly commended” for my “Cloak on Cruifix” carving in the Sculpture on the Edge competition.
2018 I gained first prize in the Fine Arts section of the Toowoomba Royal agricultural Show for my 3D sculpture of an Ammonite fossil.
I thoroughly enjoy my hobby and I am always pleased when others like my work enough to not only buy but reward me for my efforts.
