Perhaps the most exciting news this month is the Open Studios Sunshine Coast (OSSC) website is now live!
Go to www.openstudiossunshinecoast.com.au now to register your arts space for inclusion in this exciting event held across the entire Sunshine Coast.
This leads me to this month’s message from your Arts Connect Inc (ACI) President. It has been commented to me numerous times that ACI is based in Maleny or the Hinterland, and is not interested in supporting coastal artists or artists in the northern parts of the region to Eumundi… or indeed those down to Beerburrum.
I would have to agree that, over the last 3 years at least, we have been Hinterland centric, as many of the committee members reside in the area. Also workshops have been mostly held in Maleny as we utilise a very cost effective space to maximise value for our artists.
This is no excuse. We are here for all artists living and working on the Sunshine Coast. Moving forward we would love to see workshops held across the region and would love to hear from any member who might have a space to share for this purpose, or any other ideas that might allow us to get closer to where you live and work. Open Studios, in my opinion, is one way we can address this problem. If you are an artist on the Coast or North or South, please sign up for OS if you can. By being part of this inaugural revamp of Open Studios, the first across the entire coast, you will be bringing us all together in a way we could not achieve otherwise.
